Highlights
Aurora Expeditions is actively monitoring developments around Avian Influenza outbreaks closely and are is in constant communication with key authorities such as IAATO. We have implemented enhanced biosecurity measures for arrival in Antarctica and reinforced our onboard protocols, and our expedition team will continue to closely assess each landing site to ensure to determine any risks.
The Avian Flu has extended its presence to South Georgia, leading to temporary restrictions at some landing sites. Although specific locations may be inaccessible due to the ongoing situation, landing at numerous open sites is still permitted.
In the spirit of expedition travel, we encourage you to adopt a flexible and adventurous attitude when joining our voyages. This itinerary is a guide only and is subject to change due to weather, sea state and other conditions beyond our control.
Max Seigal
Conservationist & Wildlife Photographer
Max Seigal grew up in Boulder, Colorado, and spent most of his childhood camping, climbing, and exploring the Rocky mountains. His parents ran a vet hospital which inspired Max’s passion for biology and wildlife conservation at an early age. After graduating with degrees in science, Max spent a year in southern Africa working on various conservation ecology projects which included tracking rhino and lions, collaring and radio-telemetry tracking wild dogs, and studying mussel larvae off the cost of South Africa, among various other activities.
Following his time in Africa, Max went on to receive a Fulbright research grant to study sustainable lobster aquaculture in Vietnam. During his time in Southeast Asia, Max traveled extensively in the region, working with a number of conservation organizations to improve the future growth of the fish-farming industries in Vietnam and surrounding countries.
In addition to his career in the sciences, Max is an award-winning wildlife photographer. For the last 15 years he has led photo expeditions around the world, from Alaska to Antarctica, which allows him to share his passion for the scientific and photographic splendor of the natural world.

Allegra Hutton is a conservation photographer with a deep love for the polar regions, where she works to capture both their staggering beauty and their growing fragility in the face of climate change. As a guest photographer with Aurora Expeditions, she shares her expertise and passion with fellow travelers, guiding them to see these remote places not just through a lens, but with greater awareness and empathy. Her storytelling focuses on intimate, emotional connections with wildlife—from a penguin feeding its chick to the stillness beneath a sheet of sea ice—inviting viewers into a world that is both magical and urgently in need of protection.
Allegra is an international award-winning photographer and a member of The Explorers Club, honors that reflect her dedication to using visual storytelling as a force for conservation. Through her imagery, she hopes to inspire wonder, empathy, and meaningful action for our planet’s most vulnerable frontiers.
