Travelling on board a small ship in Antarctica is perfect for solo travellers, families and other small groups. Read on to find out how we can help you with your Antarctic adventure, no matter your group size!

Travelling Solo in Antarctica

One of the best solo adventures you could have is a small ship expedition to Antarctica! In a small group, you’ll enjoy getting to know your fellow passengers. Whether out on deck, in a Zodiac or in our communal bar and dining areas, you’re bound to strike up a conversation in no time.

Aurora Expeditions also offers a stateroom sharing service for solo travellers, which means you can avoid paying single supplements if you’re willing to share your room with a fellow traveller. Our team will match you with another solo passenger of the same gender and if we can’t find anyone, you’ll still only pay the twin price. If you prefer to guarantee a private stateroom, a surcharge of 50% on top the the twin occupancy rate will be charged. And on our newest small ship, Douglas Mawson, we have dedicated solo staterooms available.

Antarctica for Families

We welcome children aged from 8 years on our Antarctica voyages. It’s important to bear in mind, however, that for such a once-in-a-lifetime experience, they should be mature enough to appreciate such a special journey and enjoy the experience.

As our vessels are small, we are unable to provide any dedicated children’s entertainment facilities (apart from the spectacular view from the window!) or child-minding service on board. In the past, we’ve found that young expeditioners bring a wonderful sense of excitement to our voyages and our team and fellow passengers have greatly enjoyed having them aboard.

Please note that any children under the age of 18 must also travel with their legal guardian, and will pay the same rate as an adult traveller.

Groups

Aurora Expeditions welcomes groups on board our expeditions to Antarctica. From birding and photography clubs to university students and walking groups, we can cater for a wide range of interests and activities.

If you have a group of keen travellers interested in travelling to Antarctica, we are happy to discuss your options, contact us for more details.
