Dr Lorraine Kypiotis is a speaker, performer, documentary film researcher and writer. She is ardent about art, education and history, but more than anything – she revels in sharing her knowledge. She cannot remember a time when she wasn’t passionate about art.
A long-time lecturer in the Department of Art History at the National Art School in Sydney, she is also a well-loved speaker at the Art Gallery of NSW where she has delivered both art appreciation lectures and travel talks. Since 2017, she has been the resident art historian on radio with ABC Nightlife and most recently has been working on a documentary, both as researcher and presenter.
Widely travelled, she has led numerous tours to Italy, Spain, Portugal, and France. She holds Doctor of Philosophy in Art History from the University of Sydney and her Masters degree is in Italian Renaissance Studies.
An entertaining and informative storyteller, she will weave captivating tales of the riches of the history, culture, mythology and philosophy that has underpinned over 2000 years of art in the Mediterranean; whether it be the Ancient Greeks in Sicily, the Medici and Michelangelo in Florence or the modernist masters in the south of France.
