Packing Essentials

It’s time to get ready for your adventure! To help you prepare, please find below our guide on what to bring with you on your upcoming voyage.

Complimentary Expedition Jacket

You will receive a complimentary expedition jacket (and an insulated inner jacket) at the start of your voyage. These can be worn in combination or as separate pieces. We also offer a complimentary loan of Muck boots during the voyage. If you have any questions regarding sizing requirements, please speak with our expert team prior to your expedition.

Clothes

Waterproof Trousers: A light pair of waterproof nylon trousers is critical for keeping you warm in wind, and dry on the Zodiac.
Fleece Jacket: A 200-300 weight fleece is ideal, or another warm Jumper would be suitable.
Warm Trousers: Ski, tracksuit or polar fleece pants are suitable to wear under your waterproof trousers Jeans are not suitable to wear as an under layer.
Thermal Underwear: Medium thermal underwear, leggings, long sleeve shirt, and socks are essential. Polypropylene fibres are warmer when we than Sikor wool Sportwool wool sprayed with synthetic is also ideal. We recommend singlets, three tops and two bottoms minimum.
Woollen Jumper: Ideal to wear as an added layer over your polypropylene thermals.
Socks: Bring a mixture of thick and thin socks to test for the best combination to keep your feet warm.
Gloves & Mittens: A pair of polypropylene or woollen gloves covered with a waterproof glove such as ski gloves or industrial fleece-lined rubber gloves. We recommend you take two pairs.
Headwear: Please bring your preferred choice of headwear to keep your head warm. We recommend a beanie or a cap with earflaps. A neck warmer or scarf is also essential for protecting your neck and face.
Footwear: Warm comfortable shoes for onboard the ship Make sure they have good grip for the outside decks. Slip on shoes or moccasins are ideal for indoors. For health and safety reasons, please wear enclosed shoes in public areas while onboard the ship.
Waterproof day pack for excursions and landing
Money belt – ensure that it is discreet and comfortable to wear
Sunglasses and sun hat
Comfortable walking shoes

First Aid

Basic first-aid kit
Sea sickness medication
Personal medication – we recommend carrying this in your hand luggage at all times
Moisturiser for wind and/or sunburn
Waterproof sunscreen and lip balm

Documents

Passport: Check the validity of your passport. Please note; most countries require a minimum passport validity of 6 months in order to enter or transit
Photo or copy of passport
Travel insurance – ensure that it will be valid for the entire journey
Vaccination certificate
Photographs of the contents of your luggage, particularly special/expensive items such as cameras, laptops and tablets etc
Passport photos for identification passes and certain overseas visas
Airline tickets and itinerary
Foreign currency and/or debit/credit cards
Debit/credit card cancellation phone numbers
Emergency contact numbers

Other

Binoculars for wildlife viewing from ship and in national parks
Camera with spare battery and memory cards
Dry bag or plastic bag for camera
Laptop for image processing and other data use
USB stick to share photos with fellow travellers
Padlock with security or smart code
International power adaptor
Voltage converter
Power board for charging multiple devices
Small torch
External hard drive for storing downloaded images
Spare pair of prescription glasses or contact lenses
Ear plugs (especially if you are sharing a cabin)
