A wonderful chance to explore some of the mystical lands of Scotland at your own pace before meeting up with your group to continue your adventure. Journeying through some of the most dramatic landscapes in the country, stop wherever you fancy to drink in the views, scan the skies for wildlife or simply watch the world go by with a wee dram.

Day 1 – Edinburgh

On arrival at Edinburgh airport you will be met by your private transfer driver and taken to your city centre hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to explore the vibrant city, perhaps take a hike up Arthur’s Seat and see the city stretch away beneath you or wander around the grassmarket where executions used to take place many years ago. Tonight, you will enjoy a tour of the catacombs of the city, learning what life was like for the residents back in the 1500s.

Overnight: Edinburgh

Day 2 – Edinburgh > Perthshire

Picking up your hire car this morning, you will head north out of the city and across the Queensferry crossing which offers great views of the iconic Forth Road and Rail bridges. Taking your time, you can stop off on the way north – perhaps at Bannockburn, where Robert the Bruce claimed victory over the English in 1314 or at Scone Palace in Perth, which was the crowning place of the Kings and Queens of Scotland. Your accommodation this evening is in a small hamlet in the countryside next to the babbling River Tay. (B)

Overnight: Grandtully

Day 3 – Perthshire (guided hiking)

Your guide will meet you at your accommodation this morning and you will set out to start exploring some of the local area. One option is to “bag a Munro” and enjoy a wonderful hike up Schiehallion – also known as The Fairy Hill – which stands high over the tranquil waters of Loch Rannoch or perhaps you may prefer one of the many low level walks in the area that offer outstanding views. Whatever you decide, your guide will discuss everything with you to ensure you have the most amazing day. (B)

Overnight: Grandtully

Day 4 – Perthshire (guided biking)

Whether you are meandering along the country lanes or zipping down the single track through the forest, the best way to admire the majesty of Perthshire is from the saddle of a bike. With birds of prey soaring above your head and the river gently winding its way through the countryside, your guide will tailor the day to suit your experience and interests. (B)

Overnight: Grandtully

Day 5 – Perthshire > Loch Lomond

After a few days in rural Perthshire it is time to transfer to your next destination. Take your time driving through the forests and mountains to the largest loch by surface area in Scotland, Loch Lomond. On the way you could stop off at an Iron Age Crannog on the shores of Loch Tay to learn how people used to live and survive 2500 years ago. Your accommodation this evening is in the small village of Luss on the shores of the loch. (B)

Overnight: Luss (Loch Lomond)

Day 6 – Loch Lomond

Spend the day exploring this incredible loch. Perhaps take a scenic cruise to see some of its many islands, or just take a walk along the shore to drink up the views of the mountains that surround it. End the day watching the world go by, reflecting on your journey through this ancient land and the adventure that awaits you tomorrow. (B)

Overnight: Luss (Loch Lomond)
