$25,000 Raised For The YWCA

On Saturday, 24th May 2014 Aurora Expeditions proudly supported the YWCA charity auction event “La Madre di Tutte le Balli” – Mother of all Balls 2014.

The Venetian-inspired masquerade ball attracted some well-known Aussie talents, including the charity’s patron, actor Rachel Ward and her husband, Bryan Brown. However, the highlight of the night was the arrival of Hollywood star Gerard Butler and his new co-star, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Game of Thrones).

Aurora Expeditions donated the leading auction item on the night – a 20 day expedition to Antarctic and South Georgia. Nineteen bidders battled it out to win the most sort after prize of the evening, eventually going for over $25,000.

The money raised will go directly into the YWCA’s programs designed to help vulnerable people experiencing critical times develop the life skills and behaviours they need to become happy and contributing individuals.
