Cécile’s curiosity about the polar regions was sparked when she read Captain Scott’s journal about their ill-fated expedition to the North Pole in 1912. Then, eight years ago when Cécile was working as a hostess on an expedition ship, an Expedition Leader asked her to join his team. When he saw the puzzled look on her face, he explained that she had the passion and enthusiasm for the role – the rest she could learn. Cécile loves learning from the other expedition guides – there is so much knowledge within the team and so much information passengers can gain from attending onboard lectures, daily recaps and seeking guides out to chat about different topics. Her favourite thing about her job is being able to bring the incredible journeys and ordeals of the early explorers to life for passengers.
