At Aurora Expeditions, we offer multiple cruises through Antarctica, departing either from Chile or Argentina – some are also offered in reverse. Each cruise has been specifically designed with you in mind in order to offer the best time to partake in activities; visit remote, world-renowned sites and of course, wander at the wildlife. Among the marine animals and birdlife, you can prepare to snap some photos of penguins, fur and leopard seals, king cormorants, albatross, orcas, petrels, and prions.

The voyages’ durations last between 10 and 20 days and all take place from November to March for the prime weather conditions. Many of the cruises include the heroic survival story of Ernest Shackleton and his men—the first to cross the Antarctic—who were stranded for four months by Cape Wild on Elephant Island. These include In Shackleton’s Footsteps, South Georgia & Antarctic Odyssey (experience the summer solstice, Christmas and New Years on the boat), Weddell Sea Explorer and The Shackleton Spirit.

Other exciting milestones include magnificent scenery of gigantic icebergs and waterways (Across the Antarctic Circle), fossils and relics (Antarctic Peninsula’s Two Coasts), exploration of the vast Antarctic Peninsula (Spirit of Antarctica) and perhaps even a night spent sleeping on the ice! Our South Georgia & Antarctic Peninsula cruise will take you to see the world’s largest penguin rockery and the photographers’ version of the trip offers a photography workshop with Joshua Holko, a nature and wilderness photographer who specializes in these polar regions, onboard.
