European Arctic Expeditions

category-arctic-and-scotlandHigh in the Atlantic Ocean, where warm Gulf Stream waters sweep up towards the frigid Arctic, are lands that have sheltered some of our planet’s greatest wanderers – from migrant birds to Vikings, outcasts to explorers.

Four of Aurora Expeditions’ itineraries cover some of the most spectacular parts of the European Arctic including cruises to Spitsbergen, Greenland, Norway and Scotland’s outer isles. Each expedition offers unforgettable encounters with wildlife on land and in sea, fascinating history and exquisite light.

Join us aboard our small expedition ship, Polar Pioneer, and let our expert expedition guides, naturalists, and guest speakers bring our destinations life.

wild-scotlandThe 11-day Wild Scotland cruise (June) begins in Oban. The site of archaeological remains of cave dwellers from Mesolithic times really sets the scene for the rest of the journey. You’ll continue on to the Stone, Bronze, and Iron Age settlements throughout the Inner and Outer Hebrides, and the Orkney and Shetland Isles before finally disembarking in Aberdeen.

We follow miagrating whales along Norway’s coastline, visit picturesque fishing villages and toast our Arctic Circle crossing as we sail toward Spitsbergen’s polar wonderland.
